The beginnings – pioneers of the holiday apartment industry

The history of our house begins in 1976. In that year the Kartnaller guesthouse was built by Renate and Rudolf Kartnaller and started in 1978 with 3 guest rooms with breakfast. These 3 rooms were converted into vacation rentals in 1991, and we were one of the pioneers in the vacation rental industry back then - a wise decision!

In 1998 a significant change took place: the large rose hill in front of the house was removed, the existing building was supported and 3 more holiday apartments and garages were built. The founder of the house, Rudolf Kartnaller, died in 2008. Renate continued to run the house together with her daughter Melanie.

Generational change and creative development

Melanie and Andreas took over the property in 2014, married in 2015, and in the following years three children - Theresa, Lorenz and Vinzent - were born. During this time, apartments were renovated, a playground for children was set up, the barrel sauna in the garden was added, the outdoor area was redesigned and much more. With us there is always something new to discover, because somehow we are never finished.

With private rentals we can fully develop and use our hobbies in a targeted manner. Melanie is the creative one in the house. Everything that is colorful is pretty much out of their hands. Every room has a picture of her, even the hallway is full of real Kartnallers (her stage name because that was her single name).

Andreas, a true woodworm and no less creative, develops his passion for wood in all its facets. He taught himself everything and has since given entire apartments a stylish touch. But that's not all - he is a real all-rounder, and his versatile skills are in every corner.

Art-Apartments Kartnaller – A unique transformation

Since we placed the colorful, life-sized cows and the colorful deer on the terraces and even on the roof of the house at the end of 2023, everyone who drives along Franz-Senn-Straße knows that we are a truly unique house.

It was not without reason that the guest house was renamed Art-Apartments Kartnaller in 2024. This step reflects the thoroughly artistic design of the apartment house, which exudes a lot of personal flair and attention to detail from the owners. It seems almost predetermined, because 'ART' is already in the name 'Kartnaller'.
